The Klemp Family:

“We worked with Leah Powers for a year and half to prepare for a Summer trip to France. During this time, we would meet with her weekly and she would plan a curriculum for each lesson designed to meet our needs. We couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. Leah planned each lesson to include instruction, conversation, and often even games and exercises that got all of us laughing. She has a joyful spirit that made learning French (no easy task) accessible and fun. We highly recommend Leah for anyone looking to learn French or improve their French language skills.”

Olivia Fanelli:

“Leah is an amazing French tutor who is extremely kind, patient, and thorough. While it can be very intimidating to learn a new language, Leah created a non-judgmental space where learning French was fun and exciting. I walked away from each session feeling confident and capable. I could not recommend Leah enough!”

About me

Arts and Culture

Whether it’s going to the movies, reading a book, seeing a show, taking film pictures, doing a dance class, the arts and humanities play a fundamental role in my life and I believe strongly in their ability to create a rich community. My lessons often incorporate elements of French cinema, literature, and visual arts, offering students a holistic understanding of the language and the cultural context in which it thrives.

The outdoors

I love trail running, mountain biking, playing tennis, snowboarding, a neighborhood stroll, a picnic in the park, generally exploring and tuning into the natural world and the changing of the seasons. I find that an active body and curious mind go hand in hand and have helped shape by teaching approach.

Friends, Family, and Community

At the heart of my teaching philosophy is a deep appreciation for connection—whether it's with friends, family, or the broader community. I believe that language learning is most powerful when it fosters meaningful relationships and a sense of belonging.
